Creativeness is a gift!!

So many people are always asking me how I get my story idea, saying that they could never come up with something like that. Well dear, I was born creative ;D
Ever since I was little I was always thinking up worlds and I have had my share of imaginary friends. I was a crazy creative child but it wasn't until second or third grade that I started using my creativeness to write stories. Since I am thinking about it now I must tell you some stories about my creativeness as a child :D

Since third to maybe... fifth grade my sister and I were always making up invisible kids. Dolls were overrated! We couldn't take those to church or swimming or on vacations... why not just have an imaginary child we could take with us? So we did. We were always thinking up these invisible kids and coming up with names and cutting pictures out of magazines to define what they looked like. The best part was being able to un-mom ourselves when ever we wanted.

Pink Flyers. We were the amazing Pink Flyers. While camping one year in Yellowstone my sister, cousins and I made up the Pink Flyers. We were hot, crime fighting spies with awesome high-tec gear. We would send ourselves on missions and be faced with life or death situations C: We were cool.

I had to always be busy doing something. I made a lot of cardboard dolls in my childhood. Coloring books were ok but I liked to be doing something more.

Ideas are always running through my head. When ever i see something I think of how I could add it into a book. When I meet someone new I think about how much they remind me of a character or about how much I want to turn them into a character. Being creative is such a gift to me. Creativeness helps my writing and with out writing I don't know who I would be.

Embarrassing Moment.

I need to spice this blog up a bit. Lets hear one of my embarrassing stories, I can't say this one is funny but it sure was embarrassing. (Takes place in summer of 2010)

Every year I go to Carpinteria, California with my family and all of my cousins and we just have a big party. Carp is where you can camp RIGHT next to the beach and swim whenever you want. The two best things in one... camping and the beach. Well anyways... my cousins, siblings, and I for some reason always hang out by the bathrooms... we really have no idea why. But we met this dude... his name was Cody and he was there with his friends... James and Bryan. At the time I was 14. Cody was 19, James was 16 and Bryan was 14. Surprisingly the one that I was attracted to and the one that was attracted to me was James. I thought I was so cool because he was 16 and I was only 14.
My whole family (including relatives) had played a HUGE game of soccer on the beach that day and apparently the boys had seen us playing. While we were by the bathrooms the boys asked if they could join in a game and we said we would be playing the next day. SO... The next day we all meet up on the beach and have a nice game of soccer. Quite spicy if I do say so myself. James and I are both soccer players. SPICAYYY. Anyways after a nice hot game of soccer we all decide to cool off in the OCEAN O: Before I go on I have to mention I was wearing a swim suit top that was almost strapless, it had straps going around the neck though. So we were swimming... I was out there with the three of them... then I went under a wave and when I came back up Cody, James and Bryan were all staring at me O_O I was like... what? Then I looked down and my swim suit top had fallen down and everything was exposed. I immediatly went under the water and swam away and pulled up my top on the way there. I was so embarrassed... luckily the boys acted like nothing happened. So yeah. That's one of my embarrassing moments. Not getting another one of those swim suits... nobody needs to see my goodies!

Teen Author Boot Camp-- Why I am So Excited

    Why am I so excited for Teen Author Boot Camp? Probably because it is the best thing in this whole entire world!! Last year was my first time and I loved it so much I have to go back this year! I signed up last month out of being so excited! It's all the way in March but who cares?  
Now let me tell you about my experience from March 2012 C:
So I didn't even know TABC existed until a friend of my moms, Angie Lofthouse (Author of Defenders of The Covenant, Consecrated, Renegade, and Refuge) Told me I should check it out and that her son was going. so I checked out the website and thought it would be an awesome event to attend... but I was terrified of not knowing anybody. I was and still am super shy so I was very skeptical about going by myself. Eventually I decided to go, even though I was going by myself. I could handle this! So on March 10th I woke up at 7:30 and was at UVU by 8. Lots of authors were there signing books including Brandon Mull, Tyler Whitesides, J. Scott Savage, and many more. I was being a loner and sitting by myself. But I wasn't alone for long. A boy and a girl came and sat next to me and asked if I was there with anyone. I told them I wasn't. I soon found out their names were Maddie and Kaesi. They both came by themselves but when they saw each other they decided to hang out because they recognized each other from school. But anyways... I went through the whole day with them and had a great experience! Better then I thought I would have!
I went through lots of classes where I learned A LOT and took LOTS of notes. Brandon Mull was the Keynote speaker and it was really fun to hear from him- he's really funny! ALSO, they gave us free UVU bottles and we could get fountain drinks whenever we wanted with no cost. Also, the lunch was ok too, Maddie, Kaesi and I met twins during lunch and hung out with them for the rest of the day, unfortunately I don't remember their names >.<

Beautiful Creatures Movie

Me? Excited about the Beautiful Creatures movie... ONLY A LOT!! I kind of started freaking out when I saw the trailer. It's such an exciting feeling when a book you have read is made into a movie and you are like, "Yeah, I am so cool that I read it even before I knew it was going to be a movie." But seriously... MAJOR FREAK OUT. My insides are exploding.
I wanted to try and win tickets to the premier in L.A. but I am sad because it says its closed! Seemed like so many people went for it! So I entered to see Warm Bodies instead :( Even though I reallllyyy want to see that one! I mean... who doesn't want to watch a movie about a zombie who falls in love with a human? Its like Vampire --> Human with a twist!
But back to this movie/book... So amazing. Even though when I hear their accents I just can't take them seriously but it still makes me super excited and I think I might pee myself. You should read this book before it comes out as a movie!! If you want to read about what the book is about I would strongly suggest reading this summary... it's detailed but, and also I don't know if it gives away anything so if you don't want spoilers I am not sure I can assure this with this website. http://www.shmoop.com/beautiful-creatures/summary.html

Self Esteem Road Blocks

Hello all! My name is Jessalyn Adamson. I am sixteen years old and like many other girls I have had problems with self esteem. When I was in 9th grade I met a girl named Brynlee. She was skinny, beautiful with long hair and all the guys wanted her. She was my best friend and I was sooo jealous of her. I had a huge crush on this guy and she knew it and he asked her out and she said yes. I acted like it didn't effect me but it made me sad that she was always chosen over me.
 And to add to all that Brynlees mom thought I was a slut. Her step dad said I was worthless. I made Brynlee tell me everything her mom and step dad said about me, I don't know why I had her tell me that stuff if I was just hurting myself. My self esteem was quickly dropping.
I began to hate going over to her house and hated being around her mom and step dad. You could tell her step dad hated being around me too, he was rude and acted like a know it all. He is a complete jerk... you wouldn't understand. Her mom acted like she had said nothing rude about me whenever I was around.
I felt like crap. My thighs were too big, my stomach was too big my face was too fat... I seriously felt like this picture below my picture. Absolutely terrible. Feeling bad about yourself is really the worst feeling ever. I know lots of other girls feel the same way, ugghhh it's bad. Low self esteem leads to bulimia and anorexia and those are things you don't want to get.

I am not in 11th grade and since then Brynlee moved across town, we aren't as good of friends as we were when she lived right next to me but I still consider her my best friend. We went through a lot together. My self esteem has hiked back up but I still have my days and thoughts. "You are too fat, go running more." "You don't need to eat this time." "Your stomach is supposed to be flat."

But I have just got to push them aside! I don't want my self esteem to go as low as it was before. I compare myself to every girl I see. Their thighs are skinnier, they have prettier faces, they have skinnier waists, their hair is long and beautiful. I hate that I compare myself to people but it has become more of a habit now. I just wish my body was perfect. I hate to admit that. I should be at peace with my body since there isn't much that I can do. It's just the way my body is. I seriously find it impossible to find peace with my body. It's going to take time but I am determined to do it. I don't want to feel this way about my body, I want to be ok with it and I want other girls to feel ok with their bodies too. Self esteem is a big issue and it's terrible to have to deal with. I know from experience!

2012 New Years Resoloutions

I always make up New Years resolutions but never do it... this year is going to be the one year that I try! Here are my New Years resolutions:

1. Spend less time off the computer and more time reading.
2. Write A LOT more, I need to spend a certain amount of time a day writing.
3. Finish at least 3 novels.
4. Run on the treadmill EVERYDAY.
5. Organize EVERYTHING.
6. Keep my room clean... I have cleaning problems.
7. GET A JOB!!!
8. Be more open to making friends instead of being super shy.
9. Try not to judge people based off of appearances as much as I do :(
10. Look for an agent... for my books ;D

2012 Reading List

Addicted to reading? Of course I am.
I hadn't read much until March 2012. My Sophomore English teacher gave us a challenge... if we read more book then her in that term, she would give us extra credit for every book more then her. Since I enjoyed reading I was going to take up the challenge. I knew I could do it! I read seven books that month... I really liked adding onto my list, it made me feel accomplished. I ended up reading sixty six books this year, 18,276 pages in total. I visited the library yesterday to get ready to start my reading list for 2013. I got: Pretty Little Secrets, Beautiful Chaos, Rules of Attraction, and Forever Summer. Now for my 2012 reading list... I recommend all!
